Hi Tilly,

I didn't realise that Bougainvillea was so expensive here.

You might like to read more about the plant here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bougainvillea

(Good old Wikipedia!)

I was in Malta in April and October last year, and in April and June this year. The best weather was definitely in October. It was perfect. Mind you, I wouldn't really want to be there in the height of the summer because people might find it difficult to concentrate ...

Hello Christine,
I think you are right, they won't grow that much in our climate. So why are they so expensive? I should pay nearly € 40 for a little bush. The first time I saw them was during a holiday on the Canary Islands. I wonder if they are in flower all the year round in the Mediterranean countries. In which months have you been to Malta with your groups?

Hello Tilly,

Yes, I love Bougainvilleas, too. The first time I saw them growing out of doors was on the island of Sicily in December. I presume that our climate is not ideal for them, is it?

Hello Christine,

I've never been to Malta, unfortunately. As I see you made photos of Bougainvillea plants. They look wonderful. It's a pity that Bougainvillea are quite expensive in Germany.
